When you fly with Singapore airlines with a layover in Singapore, then you have an option to arrange your Singapore stop over through Singapore airlines. The package includes the hotel, round trip airport transfer, hop on hop off bus, attraction tickets and some vouchers that you can use to eat at the certain restaurant. Basically, the stop over program break you trips for few days to stay in Singapore before you continue to your final destination. If you plan to do a stopover in Singapore, here are my favorite things I’d like to recommend you to try while you are in Singapore:
- Pose with the Merlion
Merlion is a symbol of Singapore and its most famous landmark.
Your trip will be incomplete without a pose next to the Merlion.
- Ride the Singapore Flyer
The Singapore Flyer was the tallest observation wheel in the world until 2014 when its successor the High Roller in Vegas opened for public. Riding the Singapore Flyer gives you a view of Singapore skyline from a unique vantage point.
- Visit National Orchid Garden
The orchid garden is located within the Singapore Botanical Garden.
It includes the region’s most significant living collection of orchids. The garden also has a restaurant and a gift store.
- Check out the famous Marina Bay Sands
While you are here, go to observation deck and capture the panoramic view of Singapore. If you are lucky enough to be able to stay at Marina Bay Sands, then take a dip in the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool. The pool is only accessible to the hotel guests.
- Visit Gardens by The Bay
This unique garden is a must see in Singapore. It includes lake, cloud forest, bay east garden, OCBC skyway, sun pavilion, flower dome and super tree grove. Super trees are made of four parts: reinforcement concrete core, trunk, planting panels of living skin and canopy. These unique super trees are treat for the eyes.
- Explore the China Town
An ethnic neighborhood featuring Chinese cultural element. Take a free walking tour to explore Chinatown filled with restaurants and shops.
- Visit the Little India
Across from Chinatown, commonly known as Tekka in the local Tamil community. You can explore Hindu temples, mosques and other place or worship.
- Enjoy your night at Clarke Quay
The area was named after Andrew Clarke, Singapore second Governor. Clarke Quay is situated along Singapore River. There are so many restaurants and nightclubs you can try. The place was bumping when I was there. Here, you can have your Singapore nightlife. If you rather have a mellow experience, then just take a stroll along the river.
- Have a foot massage
Yes, Singapore is famous with its foot massage. It was featured on the travel channel. So while you are in Singapore, pamper your tired feet. You can have in room massage or you can visit some local massage place in the mall like I did.
- Try a local food such as mie laksa (spicy noodle soup) or a toast filled with Srikaya (coconut jam)
- Explore Sentosa Island
If you have enough time, go to Sentosa Island for some thrilling rides. This amusement park is a nice place to spend your day especially if you are travelling with kids to Singapore.
