Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is one of the prettiest hotels in Kauai. The wide-open space with indoor garden overlooking the ocean filled with a nice summer breeze welcome you as you step your feet in their grand lobby. The employee will greet you with a flower lei as you arrive, which give you a total Hawaiian vibe before you even start your vacation.
Not to mention that the elite status holders will have their own dedicated line for check in. This beach front property certainly accommodates you in every way they can. As an elite status holder, the service they provided us went beyond our expectation. A complimentary bottle of champagne, a fruit platter, and coconut drinks. Since we don’t do alcoholic drink, they are kind enough to switch it with a cider drink. I meant, talk about accommodating, right? Based on our experience, here are the reasons why you should stay at Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa.
During our stay in Kauai Island of Hawaii, we did sort of hotel hopping because we wanted to experience difference beaches in Kauai. So, we hopped from Hilton property to Marriot property to Grand Hyatt property. All the hotels are beautiful and beachfront property, so each offers direct access to the beach. As we hold elite status with Hilton, Marriot, and Hyatt, we received elevated service with all of them during our stay. While we liked all of them, since each of them offered beautiful beach with their own unique services such as gift bag, snack bag to free drinks to lively night life, we think Grand Hyatt offers the most. Grand Hyatt Kauai is one of the best properties to stay in Hawaii during our trip. So, what make Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa stand out compared to the other hotels?
First, let’s start with how beautiful the hotel is. This massive property is quite stunning. From a well-manicured landscape to its beautiful beach and buildings to its interior design. Everything is impeccably arranged. When you enter the lobby, you will be awed. One of the most beautiful lobbies I had ever seen.
The walk from the lobby to your room is also quite a treat, there are so many tropical flowers and plants along the path. When you enter your bedroom, you will find a gift bag. The gift bag consists of a big tote bag which you can use it to carry your stuffs to the beach or the pool, and reusable water bottles. In the attempt to reduce plastic bottle waste, the hotel provides reusable water bottles which you can refill it with the water at the water station within the hotel for free. I’m impressed by this initiative.
Now, let’s start with the location. The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is situated right by the beach. There is a sidewalk from Grand Hyatt to Poipu beach. If you visit Poipu beach around sunset, you can see turtles on the beach. You can easily access the beach and swim on the beach. And if you want to swim in the pool instead, Grand Hyatt offers many choices. From saltwater lagoons, lazy river, regular pools, and water slide. And the cool thing about these pools, they are open at night so you can take a night dip and jump into the jacuzzi when you feel cold.
The ground has beautiful landscape with the beach on one side and the garden on the other side. You can walk through its beautiful garden and enjoy the view of birds, a koi pond, swan, turtle, a man-made waterfall, flowers, and trees. The hotel is pretty much surrounded by the garden, you can enjoy the front garden, the indoor garden, the side garden, and the back garden
As for activities, the cultural center which located inside the hotel offers flower lei making class. You get to learn on how to make lei and you can keep it and wear it for days. The cultural center also offers other classes such as Polynesian stamp class, ukulele class, feather flower making class, and bracelet making class. For more things to do in kauai, click here.
You can also sign up for hydroponic tour onsite. The hotel utilizes their own hydroponic garden to supply vegetables to their restaurants. Which I think it is really neat. Other activities include morning yoga, fish feeding at the koi pond and birds feeding at the indoor garden. If you are feeling lazy and just want to chill, you can lounge by the pool, take a run-on water slide, or enjoy a swing by the pond in the garden in front of the hotel where you can watch black swan and turtles swimming around.
This five-star hotel has complete amenities from room service to full-service spa, gym, cultural center, several restaurants, several pools, several jacuzzi, and concierge if you need to book activities or tours. We really enjoyed the room service. It has many options on the menu, good food and good service. And we got to have breakfast on our own terrace in pajamas.

We were lucky that we received an upgrade to the room with the ocean view and our own terrace. There was a sliding door between our room and the terrace. You can just sit on the terrace, watching the ocean or staring at the thousand stars at night. Hawaii has such a clear sky. Best place for stars watching. The size of the bedroom was sufficient with a big bathroom. The best feature of the bathroom was a toilet with a bidet. I was quite surprised. I wish all the hotels have bidet.
As for restaurant option, I highly recommend the seaview terrace restaurant. The view is breathtaking. The view itself worth a visit to this restaurant. The best time is breakfast to enjoy the stunning view of garden and ocean from the restaurant. You must make a reservation since this restaurant is quite popular.
Another sweet surprise about Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is the lounge. Yup, you read that correctly. This hotel provides departure or arrival lounge. In case the guests arrive earlier than check-in time, then they can wait and relax at the lounge. This also apply to the guests who must check out but still need to wait for their late departure flight. They too can wait in the lounge. In our case, we waited in the lounge until it was time to go back to the airport. They gave us a separate key to access the lounge and we could use it as long as we need.
So, all in all, our experience staying at Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa exceeded our expectation. Because this is not only a five-star resort, but it is more than that. It is a destination that worth a visit when you are in Kauai.
