There are many options to choose when flying on premium cabin. Each airline offers different products and within the same airline itself, the configuration of seats and services can be different. Japan airlines business class offers different business class products.
This Japan airlines business class review will focus on Jal Sky suite III on Boeing 787-9. Departing from Narita Airport, Tokyo, Japan, to Soekarno Hatta Airport, Jakarta, Indonesia. The duration of the flight is 7 hours 45 minutes. So how this Jal Sky Suite III different than others? Let’s first start Japan Airlines business class review with its lounge.
When you fly premium cabin (First and business class) internationally, each airline will offer access to its lounge. While not in every airport each airline has its own lounge, you can usually access its partner’s lounge. Partner’s lounges are hit or miss. You are in luck if you are flying from the hub airport since the lounges usually are amazing. Since Narita is the hub airport for Japan airlines, the business class lounge is quite amazing. So, let’s see what business class lounge for Japan airlines looks like in Narita.
Sakura lounge is a business class lounge for Japan Airlines in Narita Airport. This lounge is located on 2 different floors, so it is quite huge. When you enter the lounge, you can see a big dining area and you can put your order for the food and drink just like a restaurant. A waitress will deliver your order to your table. This is the best place to try Japanese food for free. From sushi, salmon to miso soup and different kind of sake and Japanese soda. This lounge is divided into dining area, seating area, napping area and lower floor for restroom and shower. After a fresh shower, you are ready to hop on the plane to your next destination.
As a premium cabin passenger, you are entitled to priority boarding. As you board the aircraft, you can see 1-2-1 configuration for seating area. The seats are fully flat bed so you can sleep soundly in your own suite/pod. You can also adjust your seat to any angle you want. Each seat comes with 17 inches flat screen TV, soundproof headphone, bottled water, overhead shelf, reading light, heavy blanket, slipper, pillow, storage area. electrical outlet, and amenity kits. Aisle access to all seat for complete privacy. Just like any Boeing 787 aircraft, this one also has windows with adjustable shade.
While the amenity kit seemingly simple, no fancy stuff like moisturizer spray or fancy lip balm, this amenity kit offers something that I had never seen before, the warm eye mask. When you put it on your eyes, you can feel the soothing feeling from the warm eyes mask that act as a compress on your eyes. No more tired eyes. Completely relaxing, it felt like a spa treatment.
Pre-meal wet warm towel was also served on this flight. I really like this service; it makes you feel clean and fresh before your meal. The menu card is placed on each seat and the meal is served on white linen. you can choose any meals or any drink you want from the menu. The menu offers both Japanese meal and Western meal. You can also pre-order your meal at least 24 hours before flight if you have diet restriction.
My chosen entrée was wagyu beef steak with asparagus. By far this was the best wagyu beef steak I’ve ever eaten. It was so moist and tender. So, try this whenever you are flying on Japan airlines business class. The appetizer was summer vegetable, omelet, and special bread from Maison Kayser. I also ordered soba noodle as side meal. Japan airlines business class offers variety of drinks, from hot to cold, from alcoholic to nonalcoholic drink. For the purpose of Japanese airlines business class review, if you are nondrinker like me, I’ll suggest trying JAL original drink “sky time peach and grape mix drink”. It was tasty. I couldn’t stop ordering it.
As always, the service is impeccable. The flight attendants are very courteous and attentive. And when you are pampered with delicious food and “spa treatment” at 38000 feet altitude, how can you say no to this business class. As a conclusion, I will recommend Japan airlines business class for your next trip. Hope this Japan Airlines business class review: JAL SKY Suite III on Boeing 787-9 will assist you in narrowing which business class option you would love to pick.
