This post is about American Airlines Business class review on Airbus A321. The route is Miami Airport to Lima airport in Peru. There are not many airlines operate non- stop from Newark Airport to Lima Peru. So, my trip was to fly American Airlines first class to Miami, then changed the flight and flew on American Airlines Busines Class to Lima, Peru.

Flying on American Airlines Business class or any business class for that matter is a treat. Especially when you are flying long distance and need to stretch your feet. Business class always give you more room to wiggle, better food and better service or at least that what we thought. So how is American Airlines Business Class stacked against its competitors?

Let’s start with its service at the airport. Another perk of flying first class or business class is special services it provides such as access to lounge or porter. While American Airlines Business class does not provide porter to retrieve your luggage or special immigration line for business class passenger, it does provide access to lounge. I utilize every perk to my best ability when flying business. After all you want to make your spending worthwhile.  I wait for my connection flight from Miami to Lima at Admiral Club lounge. The lounge is mediocre at best. Nothing like Al Mourjan business lounge or MH business suites lounge with generous offer of variety of food. If you can, try to access Flagship lounge in Miami which is a better, fancier version of Admiral Club lounge.

As I boarded my flight to Lima, I was relief to find out that my seat was a fully flat seat with configuration 2 and 2. On red eye flight, having a fully flat seat where you can turn it into flat- bed for you to lay down and sleep is certainly what you expect from American Airlines business class. Not to mention, being able to rest well will help you to start a day when you arrive at your destination.

Since I missed my connection due to a delay in Newark, they had to put me on different flight with a different aircraft. So, my original seat with a configuration 1, 2 and 1 was not available. My original seat would have given me a complete privacy since I would have sat by myself without a fellow passenger next to me.   

To maintain a privacy, a screen is installed between passengers. The seat is quite spacious. The aircraft is retrofitted to meet a new design for American Airlines business class. But, instead of a regular 17 inches flat screen to watch a movie or entertainment you usually find on other major airlines business class, this aircraft uses a 10 inches touch screen tablet as a screen. It’s quite unique.

Moving on to food, I was served snacks and a meal. My meal choice was not available since my flight was changed. A replacement meal was pretty good and served on top quality tableware. The one thing I noticed, the flight attendants were not attentive at all. They also displayed a lack of hospitality on what business class passengers are accustomed to.

Besides food, fully flat seat and impeccable service, another thing to look forward when flying business class is its amenity kits. Some airlines go all out with their designer amenity kits that you adore and want to keep them. But American Airlines business class offers a basic amenity kit. A pouch filled with socks, a pen, a sleep mask, a toothbrush, a tiny bottle of lotion, a tiny bottle of mouthwash and earplugs. Which is very useful on a long distance flight.

Overall, my trip was quite pleasant and enjoyable. Was it luxurious? Sort of, but nothing too fancy. It is a good choice if you are flying to South America since the route does not offer too many options. But if you are flying to other destination such as Europe, Middle East or Asia, you might want to explore other major airlines that offer more special services to business class passenger.
